Day14, Camino Walk, Vilanova de Arousa to O Areal

Boat ride-17+ miles, Miles walked-10, Time-5:09, Weather- Rain, light to moderate, Temp-50’s, Elevation- 439ft. Today was the last of our Spiritual Variant walk. Actually it wasn’t a walk at all, we took a  small boat from Vilanova de Arousa to Pontcesures, just a little over 17 miles. Then we proceeded to walk into Padron, (1.5 miles) and that was the end of our Spiritual Variant walk. All I can say, it was awesome and so glad we decided to do it.

Back to the start of the day, we had quick breakfast at our hotel then proceeded to the boat harbor to catch our boat, leaving @ 7:30. It just started to rain as we the harbor. Luckily our boat was one that you could sit inside and stay dry, but had windows on all sides to see out. Our new friends, Greg & Nancy took a different boat which had no protection from the rain, they were given poncho’s 😂😂. We all ended up at Pontcesures at the same time, so we walked into Padron, found a cafe, and proceeded to drink coffee, enjoy some pastry’s and each others company. We also have meet an older couple from England, and they were there also talking with us. We were talking and salivating  about how much we need some good ol’ fashion Mexican food🌮🌮. After about an 1.5hr we all needed to get going, and we were all going to different towns to spend the night. Hopefully we will be able to see them in Santiago. As we headed out of Padron, we stopped in the Cathedral to get our stamp and headed out in the pouring rain for our 8 mile to O Areal. We stopped about halfway to have some lunch along w/ our Coke Zero’s then the final push to our accommodations. The rain had finally subsided by the time we reached our destination. We hung all our wet close and poncho’s to dry, showered, then went to have a some what pilgrim dinner. We got to choose our dinner from multiply selections, whereas a traditional pilgrim dinner, you eat what is made for the group.

Tomorrow is our actual last day of walking on the Camino,😢. It’s hard to believe that our wonderful adventure ends tomorrow. We have just around 10 miles to Santiago de Compostela. We are just going to take our time and enjoy the last day of our journey
