Day1, Camino Walk, Porto to Mastosinhos

Today we left Porto at 8:30 am, for our epic Camino Walk. With our pack-packs full as can be, we headed down to the Douro River turning west and journey began. Walking along the Douro River until we hit the Foz, where the Douro dumps into the Atlantic Ocean. We stopped and had our first Pilgrim breakfast, Ham & Cheese on a croissant roll and two coffee’s, double espresso for me. Past a lot of other pilgrims on our way,  saying Buen Camino!!, meaning good walk. We arrived in Mastosinhos @ 1:00pm and able to check into our hotel right away. We found this bar right along the beach, stopped and enjoyed a couple of drinks then went and had dinner at a little cozy pizza restaurant.

Total miles, 8.3. Time 3.45 hrs. Here are a few pics from today, some got put out of order.

Camino Walk, 3 days in Santiago de Compostela

 No official Camino miles walked, but have been averaging 6-5 miles per day exploring Santiago de Compostela. Weather has been getting hotter each day, into 90’s yesterday, and humid. We meet our new Camino friends, Gary & Nancy in the big plaza, in front of the Cathedral when they arrived on Saturday. It’s fun to watch people’s expressions when they first arrive at the Cathedral, so many different reactions, even witnessed two wedding proposals. Visited about two dozen churches, monastery’s and anything that looked old. We did a rooftop tour of the Cathedral, awesome, took in a couple of museums, even saw the famous Portico of Glory, located in the foyer of the Cathedral. We did attend one Catholic Mass. We were hoping to see the swinging of the Butafumiero, but the two times we attempted to see it the church was full and we didn’t  get to see it, oh well, I’ll try next yr. Travel Day, Part1

 Got up around 4am for our 5am Uber ride to Palm Springs Airport, for our 30+min fight, PSP to LAX. Arriving at LAX, picked up our backpacks then walked over to Air Canada to check-in for our flight to Lisbon. Flight leaves at 12:46, so grabbed some breakfast, and charged up are phones. Now the waiting begins.
