Day9, Camino Walk, Vigo to Redondela
Miles-10.7, Time-5:10, Weather-sunny warm, low 80’s & humid, Elevation-692ft. Before we get into today, I need to talk about last night. We had a room on the second story of our hotel, facing the street, cute room but small. Unfortunately we were right above a bar and two restaurants with outdoor sitting also near by. Here in Europe they eat late and party even later. It was well after 3am before we were able to get any sleep!!!!.
So after about 3.5 hrs of sleep we were up to start our walk. Lucky for us there was a coffee shop next to the hotel so that helped a lot. Funny thing about coffee drinkers here. They drink coffee out of a Barbie coffee set, the smallest little cups you have ever seen, and they take forever to drink it. There large coffee cups are like our tea cups, come on man, give me a real cup!! Anyway we headed up and out of Vigo, Maryann’s knee was feeling much better today. We walked through little neighborhood streets, following our Camino signs. Eventually we made it to the upper woodland areas and followed a dirt path for most of the day. We had awesome views of Vigo and all the surrounding areas. We met lots of pilgrims from different regions of the world, lots of Americans also. We made it down to Redondela without any major problems, except Maryann’s right big toe was bothering her. Ended up at the big church, where all the Camino paths from Portugal meet, Central, Coastal & Litoral. Stopped for a bite to eat and our daily Coke Zero. then meandered down off the hill to the city of Redondela. Found our place we booked, a nice bottom floor apartment, and the best thing it’s so quiet. Goodnight, pics to follow.
